Jetzt sind es schon mehr als 2 Monate her, als wir als Familie am Check-in im Flughafen Phnom Penh standen, und zitterten, ob das Gepäck nicht Übergewicht hat. Alles hat gut geklappt und jetzt sind wir wieder zurück in Österreich.
Hier angekommen, waren einige Behördengänge, Ansuchen und organisatorische Termine fällig. Zusätzlich hatten wir noch den Hausrat unserer alten Wohnung auszumisten. Da wir zuerst ja nur für 1 Jahr Kambodscha planten, ist da noch einiges (vor allem für die Kinder) vorhanden und musste weg.
Die ersten Wochen waren wettertechnisch sehr einladend, da der Sommer dieses Jahr sehr warm war und wir uns daher gut akklimatisieren konnten.
Unser Plan, schnell mal eine Bleibe in Hohenems zu finden, hat sich leider als eher zäh entpuppt. Zurzeit wohnen wir immer noch in Untermiete bei der Oma, Claudia’s Mama, in Lauterach. (wofür wir Ihr sehr dankbar sind)
Im ICF Vorarlberg sind wir auch wieder angekommen und fühlen uns zunehmend dort geistig zu Hause. In den letzten Jahren hat sich die Gemeinde auch sehr verändert. Einige “alte” Freunde sind weg, dafür lernen wir neue wertvolle Menschen kennen.
Die Kinder sind nun in der Volksschule Lauterach eingeschult worden und haben schon eine Woche österreichische Schule erlebt. Das komplett neue Schulsystem, die hohen Anforderungen, Deutsch und Mathe sind doch eine große Herausforderung für die Jungs, aber wir sind zuversichtlich, dass wir das gemeinsam auch noch meistern.
Beruflich werde ich, Bernhard, mit Anfang Oktober in der Therapiestation Lukasfeld beginnen und bin auch auf neue Eindrücke gespannt.
Claudia macht weiter mit ihrer SOZO Ausbildung und ist eine wichtige Stütze für die Jungs im Lernen.
Tja, in dieser relativ kurzen Zeit haben wir schon einiges in Österreich erlebt und sind sehr gespannt, was Gott noch mit uns vorhat. Wir sind sicher, dass Er einen guten Plan hat und wir sind stets offen für Sein Reden.

Welcome to Vorarlberg
It’s been more than 2 months since we as a family stood at the check-in desk in Phnom Penh Airport and were trembling to see if the luggage wasn’t overweight. Everything went well and now we are back in beautiful Austria.
As soon as we arrived, a few administrative procedures, applications and organizational appointments were due. In addition, we had to clean out the household of our old apartment. Since we actually planned to go to Cambodia for 1 year, there was still a lot of stuff we had to sort out and let go…. (Still on it)
The weather in the first few weeks was very inviting, as the summer in Austria was unusually very warm and we were able to acclimatize very well.
Unfortunately, our plan to quickly find a place to stay in Hohenems turned out to be rather tough. At the moment we are still subletting from grandma, Claudia’s mom, in Lauterach. (for which we are very grateful)
We also went back to ICF Vorarlberg and increasingly feel mentally at home there. The community has changed a lot in the last few years. Some „old“ friends are gone, but we get to know new amazing people.
The children have now been enrolled in the elementary school in Lauterach and have already spent a week at an Austrian school. The completely new school system, the high demands, German language and math are a big challenge for the boys, but we are confident that we will master it together.
At the beginning of October, I, Bernhard, will start working at “Lukasfeld”, a drug-rehab and therapy hospital. I’m looking forward to some new impressions. Claudia continues with her SOZO training and is an important support for the boys in learning.
Well, in this relatively short time we have already experienced a lot in Austria and are very excited to see what else God has prepared for us. We are sure that He has a good plan and we are always open to His speaking.
